Sparring Combinations and the Philosophy of Sparring
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This course is NOT designed to provide you with any skill level or certification of skill. In fact, nothing can replace the training or experience of your certified instructor, and it is very important that you continue to train with your certified instructor at your local do jang (studio/school). You will only be able to apply the knowledge and content you find here by regular training sessions at your do jang and under the leadership and guidance of your certified instructor. Nothing can substitute the experience of actual training under a certified teacher. You can, however continue to improve your training through supplemental training available through this course. The established training standards will provide you with enough rigor through study and review to help you improve your attained knowledge and skills. Experience is the best teacher.
Overview and Purpose: Understand and demonstrate basic understandings in defensive/offensive (Um/Yang concept) free sparring practice.
Purpose: When an opponent attacks with force you will accept opponent's power with your back stance rather than resisting. When you see your opponent's weakness you will counter attack with front stance reverse center punch or other techniques. This basic and important understanding of Um/Yang concept in free sparring is a necessary discipline to learn free sparring. Understand and demonstrate the concept of Chun Jin (forward advance) and Hu Jin (backward advance) and how it works in sparring. See Screenshot below.
